Assam’s Palashbari-Sualkuchi Bridge: A Historic Step Towards Better Connectivity

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma went to the Bhumi Pujan event of the Palashbari-Sualkuchi bridge on Sunday, December 8, 2024. This was a big step towards improving Assam's road infrastructure. This bridge, which will cross the huge Brahmaputra River, will completely change how people get around the state.

At the ceremony, CM Sarma called it a "historic moment" for Assam and emphasised how the bridge could change how people get around in the area. The bridge will be 3.6 kilometres long, and it should be done by June 2028. When it's done, it will connect the Brahmaputra's northern and southern sides in a way that has never been done before.

A new four-lane road project will depend on the Palashbari-Sualkuchi bridge. Palashbari will be connected by a road that is 5.3 kilometres long, and Sualkuchi will be reached by a road that is 2 kilometres long. As part of the project, elevated roads will be built to protect the wetlands north of Sualkuchi. This shows that environmental worries are being taken seriously.

CM Sarma also talked about the event where the foundation stone was laid earlier this year, on April 14, 2023, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Assam. PM Modi also started a number of other important projects during his trip. These included the AIIMS, three new medical colleges, and a petrochemical effort in Naharkatia. The Palashbari-Sualkuchi bridge was a part of that big plan to improve the facilities in Assam.

Not only will this bridge make daily travel better, it will also make it much easier to get to some important places. CM Sarma said it would make it easy to get to important places like Goalpara, Tura in Meghalaya, and Gauhati University. This is especially helpful for students, workers, and locals who are going back and forth between these places.

Many growth projects in places like Hajo, Ramdia, and Sualkuchi were put on hold in the past because of how hard it was to cross the Brahmaputra. But now that there is a new bridge, the government can move forward with plans that were hard to carry out before because of bad connections.

CM Sarma also talked about the happy news that the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) will soon be built in Palashbari. The bridge will make it easier for kids from North Assam to get to and from school, and the new school will make it easier for them to get to higher education.

The chief minister of Assam told the people that work on the Palashbari-Sualkuchi bridge would start right away and there would be no delays. The Phulbari Bridge project, which is also an important piece of infrastructure, is also moving forward quickly.

Assam is trying to update its facilities and make it easier for people to get around by building this new bridge. The bridge should help the business grow and make life better for millions of people by making roads better and making it easier to get to important places. The Palashbari-Sualkuchi bridge is only a small part of a bigger plan to make Assam's roads more reliable and efficient.

Assam is making progress on exciting ideas that will make the future better and more connected. The bridge between Palashbari and Sualkuchi is a sign of growth, and it will definitely help the people of the state for many years to come.
