As per the latest development, the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple management committee in Ayodhya has issued an advisory urging local devotees to postpone their visits for 15-20 days. This comes amid an "unprecedented increase" in visitors, largely due to the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
With the ‘Mukhya Snan’ (main bathing ritual) for Mauni Amavasya scheduled for January 29, 2025, the Maha Kumbh is attracting a massive influx of pilgrims. An estimated 10 crore devotees are expected to take a holy dip in Prayagraj on this auspicious day. The temple's capacity is severely strained because many of these pilgrims are also travelling to Ayodhya from Prayagraj to offer their prayers to Lord Ram.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya has issued an advisory urging local devotees to postpone their visits to the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple by 15-20 days. This request comes in response to an unprecedented influx of pilgrims traveling from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, particularly around the 'Mukhya Snan' (main bathing ritual) for Mauni Amavasya on January 29, 2025, which is expected to attract approximately 10 crore devotees.
Over the past three days, Ayodhya has experienced a significant increase in visitors, leading to logistical challenges in managing the crowds and ensuring smooth 'darshan' (viewing) of Lord Ram Lalla. The temple committee noted that the city's capacity is being stretched, causing longer walking distances and potential inconvenience for devotees.
To alleviate congestion and prioritize those traveling from distant locations, the Trust has appealed to local residents to consider deferring their temple visits until after Vasant Panchami, when the influx is expected to subside and weather conditions remain favorable.
This measure aims to ensure a safer and more comfortable experience for all devotees during this peak pilgrimage period.
